PROFILE OF THE GENERAL MANAGER OF ALCO-Safe

An electronic engineer specialising in scientific measurement instrumentation he became involved with alcohol detection in the early seventies and has maintained continuous contact with the worlds leaders in this field. 

He has served on national committees concerned with the alcohol problem and was most recently involved with a working group investigating the effectiveness and validity of breath alcohol testing for legal enforcement purposes. 

Many of his articles have been published in major health, safety, transport and security journals. Additionally, he is called upon to provide information to daily newspapers on a regular basis. He has provided assistance and made private presentations to many major organizations and to professional interest groups and societies.  

Much of this work has involved bringing management and workforce representatives together in the development of agreed substance abuse policies and programmes. 

Much of his knowledge has arisen from experience gained from conducting seminars in alcohol abuse management and from responding to hundreds of alcohol related inquiries over a period of more than twenty five years. He is widely acknowledged as the foremost expert in alcohol detection technology throughout most of Africa. 

His favourite current work-time pursuit is to assist organisations in the development of written alcohol policies and control programs. His efforts also concentrate on reducing alcohol related accidents and deaths and on raising awareness of alcohol's often neglected role in other areas such as productivity, loss control and awareness of alcohol's negative role in the area of health.

LARGE AND DIVERSIFIED CLIENT BASE

ALCO-Safe has, over many years assisted a large number of organizations both major and small.

Assistance given has ranged from the supply of equipment only, to the development of substance abuse programmes and their implementation on a national basis. Just some of the organizations assisted are: Autonet, Metrorail, Cargo Carriers, Engen, Shell, Iscor, Eskom, Tongaat-Hulett, Sappi, major vehicle manufacturers and municipalities.
